Digital Story 2 Narrative

I'm not a person who usually likes thinking about the future. I like living in the here and now, but I have some kind of dream plan in mind. In 2020 I see myself happy with whatever career i chose to go after. I have a few options in mind that stick out like a sore thumb.
The main dream I seek is to be a music journalist and a photojournalist. I love to take photos and I would love to be skilled at taking some amazing pictures at concerts. I also love writing. Currently I write for my school's paper, in the A&E section where I review new and old albums.
My second option would also involving writing, and it is to be an advice columnist. I can give some great advice sometimes and like I've said, I love to write!
My third option would be, a forensic scientist. I love mystery, and I have a strong stomach. Solving crimes has been a passion of mine since I was a kid. I loved reading Nancy Drew books and trying to figure out the ending before I read it.
No matter what happens to me in this lifetime, I just hope it's just going to be good and I will be happy. Though I can't control what's going on, I still want to make some kind of a difference. I would love to travel all over the world and try and help out people who are in some kind of trouble. I'd like to volunteer to help out in Africa or in South America.
In the future I dream that the world will be a better place. I wish that there would at least be a cure for cancer. This disease has taken the lives of two people in my family; My grandmother and my godfather. I didn't know my grandma all that well, but I've heard that she has a great impact on my dad's side of the family. She was kind, patient and knew how to tell a great joke. As for my godfather, he was so kind to everyone. He had a great passion for music. He put concerts on for everyone in his community. Though he is gone, his children has gotten the same passion of music from him.
Also in the future, I wish that the war in Iraq would be finished. I'm thankful that they fight everyday halfway around the world, but they need to come home. They live in fear everyday due to the craziness of government issues.
One last dream I have about the future, is that global warming would at least have a start of a solution. We live on this planet. Some people don't care that their home is being destroyed by their own actions.

Digitales Reflection

On the Digitales website i reviewed three videos. They were all very interesting in many different ways. For this reflection, I'm going to focus on one video; Waste in Chicago. For the Waste in Chicago video, I think that the author is not globally competent throughout this video because this is about one city. If it were about waste in the whole world, then it'd be more global.

Digital Story 2 - Topic

For my next digital story, I will write about how music has changed over many decades.
From the 50s with Elvis, and 60s with The Beatles, to the present with diverse genres, music and fads has changed.
People have been greatly affected by music. Even today, people's moods are affected to what they hear, whether it be negative or a positive message.

Graduate Portfolio Reflection - Story 1

This project has made me an even more effective user of technology, more culturally aware, and a proficient thinker. The first digital story was an interesting start to the many videos that I'm going to start making for Global Tech.

I've learned to be an effective user of technology. I've never used a Mac laptop before coming to this school. I was a little nervous that I was going to mess up the computer somehow. With the direction from Mr. Miano, I learned how to efficiently use iMovie and learn tricks I've never known about the Mac.

In my video I included places I've been to and the foods I could have while on a small trip to New York City, and it made me more culturally aware. As I've said in my video, I love the fact that I live in this amazing city because I'm lucky to be exposed to many cultures. I have a greater respect for many cultures because here in NYC there's a large variety of many groups of people.

This project has also made me a proficient thinker. The process was long because there was the creation of a story, then finding pictures, and also finding the right music for the pictues. I wasn't entirely sure on some aspects of the creation of this first story, but I eventually pieced it together.

I think I made an average video. My video came out super blurry for some reason and it's one of the main reasons I'm not satisfied with it. I believe I can make a better video if I didn't slack off as much for this first project.

Establishes a purpose early on and maintains a clear focus throughout.

Establishes a purpose early on and maintains focus for most of the presentation.

There are a few lapses in focus, but the purpose is fairly clear.

It is difficult to figure out the purpose of the presentation.

FOCUS

Point of View - Awareness of Audience

Strong awareness of audience in the design. Students can clearly explain why they felt the vocabulary, audio and graphics chosen fit the target audience.

Some awareness of audience in the design. Students can partially explain why they felt the vocabulary, audio and graphics chosen fit the target audience.

Some awareness of audience in the design. Students find it difficult to explain how the vocabulary, audio and graphics chosen fit the target audience.

Limited awareness of the needs and interests of the target audience.

Images create an atmosphere or tone that matches some parts of the story. The images may communicate symbolism/ metaphors.

An attempt was made to use images to create an atmosphere/tone but it needed more work. Image choice is logical.

Little or no attempt to use images to create an appropriate atmosphere/tone.

ORGANIZATION

Sequencing of Information

Graphics & story line are organized in a clear, logical way. The story is easy to follow.

Most information is organized in a clear, logical way.  One picture seems to be out of place.

Two or more pictures seem to be out of place making the story difficult to follow.

There is no clear story.  Pictures seem to be sequenced randomly.

STYLE

Voice - Consistency

Voice quality is clear and consistently audible throughout the presentation.

Voice quality is clear and consistently audible throughout the majority (85-95%) of the presentation.

Voice quality is clear and consistently audible through some (70-84%)of the presentation.

Voice quality needs more attention.

STYLE

Voice - Pacing

The pace (rhythm and voice punctuation) fits the story line and helps the audience really "get into" the story.

Occasionally speaks too fast or too slowly for the story line. The pacing (rhythm and voice punctuation) is relatively engaging for the audience.

Tries to use pacing (rhythm and voice punctuation), but it is often noticeable that the pacing does not fit the story line. Audience is not consistently engaged.

No attempt to match the pace of the storytelling to the story line or the audience.

STYLE

Layout

Layout is exceptionally creative and visually appealing.  The fonts, color, and background all work together to provide a consistent theme and a presentation that is easy to view/read.

Layout is creative and visually appealing.  The fonts, colors, and background almost provide a clear theme. It is generally an easy presentation to read and follow.

Layout is visually appealing although some slides may be too cluttered or too empty.  The fonts, colors, and background do not necessarily provide a theme and there may be parts that are difficult to view/read.

Layout lacks visual appeal and is sometimes too cluttered or too empty.  It may be confusing at times.  The fonts, color, and background do not work well together  in the presentation making it difficult to view/read. There may be too many types of fonts, etc.

Digital Story 1

My Reflection:

I think that this project was alright for me. I was able to start iMovie, which I've never gotten the chance to use because I have a PC at home. I thought some aspects of the project was a little difficult because i had to fit many things from my original script and them some. This project had a lot of original stuff from my photographs as well as pictures from Google. I think my video could be better if I didn't miss a few days of work.
